Honorary Patron of Commissionaires Manitoba is His Honour the Honourable Philip S. Lee, C.M., O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.
Commissionaires Board of Governors meets twice a year. The board carries out its mandate in four main ways:
- Providing linkage with the community;
- Ensuring the provision of explicit governing policies for Commissionaires Manitoba;
- Ensuring quality performance by commissionaires;
- Ensuring Commissionaires operates on a sound fiscal basis.
Executive Committee
The executive committee is appointed by the Board of Governors at its annual general meeting in May. The executive committee meets frequently throughout the year with the Chief Executive Officer to monitor the progress of the organization.

CEO, Commissionaires Manitoba
Tom Reimer was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Commissionaires Manitoba in 2008—as a 30-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy and a commissionaire who rose steadily through the ranks over the course of 12 years to assume leadership of the company.
In 1966, Tom joined the Canadian Forces and served on both coasts of Canada, accumulating more than 15 years at sea. Among his many career highlights, Tom has sailed in each of the seven seas and around the world in both directions.
Tom served two long tours in National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ), primarily in personnel occupation structure and career management. In 1983, his promotion to Chief Petty First Class made him the youngest Chief in the Armed Forces.
Following a tour at sea in 1988, Tom returned to NDHQ to participate in Combat Related Employment of Women (CREW). His primary responsibility was the integration of women into warships, a role which he self-describes as “the Navy’s feminist for a few years.” His next appointment was as the Naval Operations Branch Chief, reporting on the conditions of service for sailors in the fleet.
Retirement in 1996 brought Tom back to Winnipeg, where he was born and raised. He spent two years working for his brother selling, servicing and installing hog and poultry equipment before joining Commissionaires Manitoba.
In 1998, his first job as a commissionaire was at the Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health. Following two years as a security guard, he was promoted and went on to serve as the Manager of Human Resources and Client Services, and later as the Director of Operations. After a decade of service, he stepped in as the company’s CEO.
Tom is a recipient of the Special Service Medal (SSM, NATO Bar), The Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal (QEJM), the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD), the Order of Military Merit (MMM), and the Commissionaires Long Service Medal (CLSM).
His memberships include ASIS International, Manitoba Protective Officers Association, the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Business Bureau.
