Commissionaire Rick Taylor

Rick Taylor may be a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy but it’s his ability to take a bird’s eye view of any situation that sets him apart. An air traffic controller for over thirty years, Rick’s territory was the great Canadian North. His work entailed brushing shoulders with the military on numerous occasions. During the Cold War, he assisted in the US cruise missile testing out of Cold Lake, Alberta. He was involved in Arctic Response Missions to resupply military stations along the DEW line and in Alert Bay. And, Rick was on duty during 9/11 in the hours following the US border closures. “It was as if every airplane was in a state of emergency because they couldn’t land at their designated destination,” says Rick.
